Every guide holds a current Wilderness First Responder Certification, has Avalanche Training and years of personal experience in the mountains.
Reed is the owner of Beartooth Powder Guides. He worked as a Ski Patroller for Mammoth Mountain, developing a strong appreciation for mitigating and managing avalanche terrain. He studied forestry in college and made his living in the trades to support his passion for splitboarding and surfing during the winters. After decades of ski bumming in the Cascade, Sierra and Beartooth Mountains he began to pursue a career in guiding and avalanche education to share his love of the mountains with others.
Nina was born and raised in Bozeman, Montana, and is an AMGA Certified Ski Guide and Lead Guide at BPG. She grew up chasing her parents around the mountains of Montana and Alaska. She spent the first three years of her career guiding for a heli and snowcat-skiing operation in Alaska, and worked as an intern for the Gallatin National Forest Avalanche Center for two seasons. In summers, Nina teaches horseback riding and enjoys rock climbing and mountain biking.
Founder of Beartooth Powder Guides. Since moving to Montana in 1997, he has skied extensively in the mountains of SW Montana. Ben is an AMGA Certified Ski Guide and turned his passion into a profession by founding Beartooth Powder Guides in 2011. Ben has also completed a Level 3 Avalanche course and spends time every year in continuing Avalanche Education events to stay up with the most recent Avalanche research.
Colorado born Montana raised Zach has been outside all his life. After attending Montana State University, he spent two winters with Red Lodge Mountain ski patrol. Zach has also completed an Avalanche Pro 2 course and hopes to continue growing his expertise through teaching. During the summers Zach continues ski patrolling and spends time kayaking and rafting around Montana
Jake was born and raised in Seattle Washington. He found his love for skiing at Snoqualmie Pass and was a ski instructor there for several years. In 2014 he moved to Bozeman where he attended Montana State University and graduated with a degree in Environmental Studies. While living in Montana, Jake discovered rock and ice climbing. He spends his summers alpine climbing and trail running and winters trying to ski as much as possible.
Stephen grew up on a farm in Virginia. He learned to ski blue ice in the Blue Ridge Mountains. After college, he packed his bags and headed west for the Rockies. He made his living as a bartender for over a decade to feed his love of skiing and to make sure no powder days were missed. He’s ski bummed for the past 13 years in Colorado, Utah, California, and now Montana. His attraction to guiding started on a guided ski trip in the Tetons and has been working ever since to gain the knowledge and experience to make that dream come true. In summers, you’ll find Stephen hiking, biking, and climbing throughout the Greater Yellowstone.
Gloria is a born and raised Alaskan who can’t seem to get enough of life outside. She found her way to Montana via the University of Montana in Missoula and fell in love with the big skys, fast rivers, tall mountains and coldsmoke!. She spent several winters ski patrolling around Montana before transitioning to full time guiding. Her guiding and other work has brought her to the Cascades, Alaska, and South America but she always returns for the Montana winter. She has a passion for the outdoors and the joy it brings and can’t wait to share a day in the mountains with you!
Jodi grew up on a ranch in Paradise Valley, with the Absaroka- Beartooths as her backyard. She learned to love wild places and has been exploring on skis since in Canada, Japan, the North Cascades and her home mountains around Bozeman and Cooke City. When she’s not skiing or teaching, she can be found guiding on Washington’s glaciers in the summer, running around the mountains, or coming up with the next best adventure snack.
Hunter grew up alternating between Silver Gate and Red Lodge, Montana guiding and exploring the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem. At 16, Hunter started leading backcountry horseback trips, sightseeing tours, and even elk hunts as a guide for his family’s outfitting business. He attended high school in Red Lodge, MT where he became a strong skier and backpacker. He went on to get a degree in photography from MSU in Bozeman, and has since spent countless hours in all seasons photographing wildlife in and around Yellowstone National Park, developing an intimate knowledge of the terrain as well as excellent spotting and tracking skills.”
Noah was born and raised in Colorado, and graduated from Western Colorado University with degrees in Business and Outdoor Education. He moved to Montana after college in search of good climbing and deep snow. Following years of competitive snowboarding, Noah shifted his focus to backcountry riding and never looked back. He spends his summers climbing, running, and dreaming of powder. Noah won a wilderness survival challenge on the Discovery Channel’s TV show Naked and Afraid.
